You know times are tough when even American greeting card giant Hallmark is producing and selling job loss sympathy cards. All I can think of now is a t-shirt that says, “Lost my job and got a stinking greeting card to show for it!”
What’s the etiquette for this type of card? Does one throw in some business contacts or an offer to help them work on their resume? It just seems giving someone a card without some kind of call to action is unnecessary. It would be suffice to call someone and offer some support or even use the three bucks to buy a jobless friend a brand name coffee to talk about their situation for an hour. That’s just me, though.
Would you buy an unemployment greeting card?
